Brad Snyder, owner of Gas Electrical Services, Inc. uses his website to help his business, but its main purpose is not to generate sales or to attract new clients.   "Our website’s main purpose it to help organize our application process," he says.  This is because his company is a traveling company that works throughout the mid-west United States to construct electrical plants including those that produce ethanol, bio-diesel and CO2.

"We started our business in May of 2006 with leadership teams and we are now trying to build up our employee base," he explains.  Since they are a traveling company, they need to have a local employee base in the areas where they work and they are also trying to build up their traveling employee teams as well.  "We were doing a lot of paperwork at the worksite to recruit new employees," Snyder explains.  "Now we can talk with potential employees and direct them to the website to apply."  It works because then all the paperwork goes directly to the company’s office manager in the main office in Iowa.  "If we are working at a site in Colorado, we don’t have to keep the application papers with us until we return.  They go directly to our base office in Iowa."  Since starting their website in mid-August of 2006, the website has helped increase their employee base by about thirty-percent.

When people go to the website, they can fill out an application using a form feature and submit it right to the company.  From there, the company can review the application and decide on further action.  It helps them stay organized and also makes the company look like the professional organization that it is. "We are a fairly new company," Snyder explains, "so we needed to take actions to show that we know what we are doing."

"Our website does have an additional benefit," says Snyder.  "While our main purpose is to use the website to generate an employee base, we have been able to use it when making bids for new contracts."  After the initial contact to potential clients, Snyder and his team direct them to the website where there is information about the company as well as photos of the plants they have previously done. "It’s great because we have a reference point to direct them to," he says.  Instead of simply telling them about their services, the website allows them to show potential clients what they’ve done in the past.
